During the last week and a bit of being ill.
There’s one thing I’ve always neglected on the road to recovery.
And that one thing was learning to breathe well…
Especially when you’re coughing up parts of your lung while sounding as if you’ve smoked 17 packets of Marlboro Red’s in the space of a few days.
You’ll hear the usual motivational platitudes like:
“You are what you eat”
“You are what you think”
And while yes those things are true. Learning to breathe properly is one thing that is heavily ignored time and time again.
So for months there was this bastard app that kept popping up as an advert on my FB/Insta feed
I ignored it just like I’ve been warned about staying away from witchy type goth girls.
So as much as resisted, I eventually caved in and gave it a bash.
Obviously I wasn’t going to pay for the premium stuff and so just took the basics that it offered but what surprised me was how simple the exercises were and it helped straight away with getting my energy levels back up and helping with sleep.
And if you don’t want to go down the app route just YouTube these few breathing exercises:
4-7-8 Breathing Technique
Box Breathing
Alternate Nostril Breathing
Rib Stretching Breathing
Diaphragmatic Breathing
So on top of making sure I get my ass moving more with long hikes. I’m adding some extra breathing exercises into the mix too.
Even though I do still feel a little meh cause of whatever virus or whatever I’ve got. I still feel a lot sharper now since doing these exercises.
Obviously this isn’t medical advice so if you are going to be a nutjob like myself and do outrageous things, please consult a specialist.
Other than that.
This is the email for the day.
