Didn’t even want to write about this.
But here we are…
Over the last 18 or so months and in some weird capacity or other, I’ve had to help some real dumbasses claw back money they have sent to fake people.
I don’t just mean fake influencers but people who seem incredibly real but are 3721% AI rendered and in some cases not AI rendered, but 3D modelled and rendered in fancy software like 3D Studio Max or Cinema4D etc. (Type of things you see from Pixar lol)
These fake people are almost too real. If you look close enough the uncanny valley starts to kick in.
And if you’re not familiar with the term uncanny valley.
The very quick TL;DR of it is: “It says that when a robot, computer animation, or doll looks almost human—but not quite real—people feel a sudden sense of creepiness, fear, or deep unease.” Masahiro Mori first coined the term back in 1970 (Feel free to drop that into Wikipedia and go down that rabbit hole. It’s unsettling to say the least.
Anyways…
The point is. With so-called AI getting “Better” in the sense of realism with static images, people are now starting to do what I call hornybaiting.
Which is creating these “models” and baiting horny men to send over swathes of hard earned coin to some other dude on the other side of the internet doing the hornybaiting.
In a sense. It’s just horny dudes getting baited out of their money by other horny dudes (I’m not gonna kink shame but hey…)
I could probably spin this as some artistic endeavour but we all know what it is. Fraud and emotional extortion…
In this scenario all I can say is, don’t make emotional decisions with a loaded gun, lads.
