About an hour ago I ventured out in to the wild to grab a coffee from my favourite little cafe down the road.
There’s football on, so generally this little town is dead while everyone’s packed together at the stadium about 20 mins away.
On my way home from grabbing the caffeinated goodness, I thought it was a good idea to grab some snacks at the local Sainsbury’s.
It was packed too, which again is weird cause football was on.
Anyways. I’m standing in the queue and there’s a self check out section (which I’m not a fan of) but 3 young kids were struggling to make a payment for their snacks.
Now I know how important snacks are sometimes, so I couldn’t let them not have their snacks. Just before they walked out embarrassed cause their card didn’t work (I know this feeling all too well) I went over and paid for it. They were smiling and thankful and it was just something I thought needed to be done.
Paying it forward is something I’m a big fan off, but what was weird was the way the 3-4 people in the queue looked at me as I walked out of line to do it.
I’m not sure what has happened to most adults nowadays but it’s like they can’t fathom that there are people out there who just want to do what’s right and I thought in that moment that it was the right thing to do. Cause…
Snacks on a Saturday are needed and I believe everyone deserves snacks on a Saturday.
Life is way too short and if you ever have the opportunity to do small things (like pay for someone’s snacks…) you have the ability to make their day.
I might come across as a crotchety old man sometimes (Which only really happens when someone tries to slip in to my DMs and sell me some MLM bullshit) but I’m a gentle soul at heart.
I like to write. Make art. Drink coffee. Write words and when possible, share some good vibes.
Today was a day of good vibes and coffee.
Hope you have an awesome weekend. I’m off to…
You guessed it.
Have my snacks and read some books.
