Promises and predictions keep ’em hooked.

The drop that ends careers, topples the powerful, sets the whole rotten scaffolding on fire…

While setting us free and resetting our humanity has been promised for years by the online activist group Anonymous.

Twitter fills your eyeballs up with The Epstein Files promise and it’s gotten to the point where everyone who is waiting is collectively rolling their eyes.

Don’t hold your breath.

Then all of a sudden more teaser trailer type clips are dropped.

Empty noise and all that madness.

I mean come on. These massive exposé type gigs come along every now and then but nothing really happens.

Yeah it might rile us up or even segregate the masses again but there’s always hope that the drop happens. The big ol’ reveal.

There’s a strange, dumb magic in predicting something enormous. Call the end of the world and get it wrong, and nobody points and laughs.

The swing was so operatic, so far over the fence, that the sheer ambition of it reads as conviction.

You didn’t lie. You believed. You dared.

I mean people forgive a failed prophet the way they forgive a kid who reaches for the top shelf and eats shit face first into the floor.

But when you land a small call…

“This platform’s about to gut its creators.” (Yes Instagram…)

The second it hits. Every miss evaporates and you get to start again and like clockwork. They get addicted to you and stick around even longer.

So what I suggest you try is, pick one bold prediction about your corner of the world. Big enough to matter. Real enough to maybe come true. Put your name on it, out loud, in front of your people. (I’ve been doing this with AI since day 1…)

Then shut up and wait and see what goes down…

Stephen Walker.

P.S. And as much as people hated Scott Adams, he wrote interesting insights into similar things…
